International Scholarships

Am I Eligible?

Each of the Society’s International Scholarships have unique eligibility criteria. See below for details.

Detailed Eligibility Criteria:

  • One World International Scholarship

     One World International Scholarships ($2000 – $5,000)

    To be eligible to apply for these Scholarships, you…

    • are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant), convention refugee, or protected person living in Canada;
    • are a resident of British Columbia, defined as having a primary residence in the province for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the date of full-time enrollment in the program for which the scholarship is applied for;
    • have clearly demonstrated community and/or school involvement;
    • are enrolled full-time in an academic program of at least one year at a BC public post-secondary institution leading to a credential and have been accepted into an eligible international program outside of Canada or United States*;
    • can demonstrate links between the international experience you are pursuing and your educational or career goals;
    • are not planning an international experience in a country from which you have immigrated within the past 5 years;
    • have not previously received a One World International Scholarship or a Premier’s International Scholarship;
    • plan to begin your international experience before May 1, 2025.

    *First Nations, Metis, Inuk students are eligible to participate in study programs offered by credit-granting institutions in the United States of America.

    NOTE: These Scholarships are adjudicated and awarded by your institution.

    How to Apply

  • Premier’s International Scholarship

    Premier’s International Scholarship ($8,000- $12,000)

    To be eligible to apply for this Scholarship, you…

    • are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident (landed immigrant), convention refugee, or protected person living in Canada;
    • are a resident of British Columbia, defined as having a primary residence in the province for at least 12 consecutive months prior to the date of full-time enrollment in the program for which the scholarship is applied for;
    • have achieved a minimum 3.0 (B) academic standing;
    • can demonstrate links between the study- or work-abroad experience you are pursuing and your educational or career goals;
    • are enrolled full-time in an academic program of at least one year at a BC public post-secondary institution leading to a credential and have been accepted into an eligible international program outside of Canada or United States*;
    • will earn credits during your international study program that will be recognized by your BC institution.
    • will be studying abroad for a period of no less than three months (not including travel time);
    • plan to begin your international experience before May 1, 2025;
    • are not planning an international experience in a country from which you have immigrated from within the past 5 years;
    • have not previously received a Premier’s International Scholarship.

    *First Nations, Metis, Inuk students are eligible to participate in study programs offered by credit-granting institutions in the United States of America.

    Students may apply for both One World and Premier’s International Scholarships, but the total amount awarded will not exceed the value of the Premier’s Scholarship.

    NOTE: These Scholarships are adjudicated and awarded by the Society.
